On November 11, DISPL announced a new product, People Counting solution based on video analytics. It is a natural development of Visitor Insights that utilizes AI algorithms for detection and analysis of faces and body shapes. The People Counting solution is an add-on to existing Visitor Insights subscriptions. It is already available and included with DISPL Kit 3.
We are also running a special offer for DISPL Kits at a special price with the new add-on included. Read more at the end of this article!
Before
Visitor Insights is an offline analytics algorithm that detects and analyzes faces of offline visitors, determines their demographics, facial expressions, in-store behavior and interactions with various locations throughout the stores. Then it uses anonymous data to build dashboards answering the hottest questions of marketing, sales, and administrative teams:
- What audience visits stores and when?
- How do visitors move throughout the store? What are their conversions?
- How different locations compare between each other?
- Are employee schedules matching high-traffic periods?
- What in-store areas are most popular among the target audience? What content gets higher engagement?
Visitor Insights needs to see the faces of visitors, which limits the distance of analytics and requires sensor placement distance of 4 meters to visitors. This means that some traffic was missed and not counted accurately. To address this limitation, we have started the development of Body Shape AI which has a larger detection area and starts tracking visitors quicker, increasing the overall speed and quality of data.

Now
Today we are happy to announce that our offline analytics solution based on the combination of Face Detection and Body Shape Detection algorithms has achieved Stage 2 – People Counting. It means that body shapes can be re-identified and merged into a single visitor track, ensuring much higher accuracy and quality of people counting.
While we have achieved a high level of accuracy, additional features of Visitor Insights allow DISPL to exceed competing solutions for measuring offline traffic, like infrared people counters, manual counting, and sales data analytics.

What this means for you

Essentially, you can use DISPL for analyzing and measuring the whole customer journey inside a store: from counting incoming traffic to calculating conversions in the checkout area. All in one efficient platform, fully secure and anonymous.
If you place just 3 sensors in an average-sized store, you can get total traffic numbers (counted body shapes), analyzed visitors (counter and analyzed faces), demographic distribution, average visit time, average number of contacts, conversion from entrance to checkout, and much more data on visitor behavior and staff presence.
To support this announcement and help more businesses test and embrace this amazing technology, we are running a promotion for a bundle of 3 DISPL Kits PRO at a special price until the end of November. It is our most advanced all-in-one package of hardware and software, and, of course, it comes with the People Counting feature included.
To benefit from this special offer, contact your DISPL Sales manager or book a form to request a demo.
Important note
Body Shape AI works only on DISPL Kit 3 or compatible third-party Linux devices. All improvements that we are announcing are available in the latest version of the DISPL Player software. Please contact the technical support from our help center or via email support@displ.com for more details.
